APW - Elgin, B.W. Raymond with winding indicator, Grade 494, 23J, 16S, rose gold-filled OF original B.W. Raymond Model case with elegant black enamel inlay to bezel, rear perimeter and bow, white enamel DS dial with Canadian market 13 to 24 hour indications, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#34682553. An excellent example of this high grade railroad watch with a very attractive combination of 24 hour dial and rose colored case with enamel inlay, the total production of the Grade 494 was 5000 made with all examples having winding indicator feature.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, some typical fine to micro-fine scratches, areas of lettering with losses of black color; nearly flawless dial with a scratch to upper right portion of winding indicator register, few typical mild micro-fine scratches elsewhere; excellent-plus hands, minute with small bit of oxide and finish loss to its tip; case shows little wear, no dents or dings, minuscule slivers of wear to brass to portions of the outermost raised lip of bezel and rear adjacent the band, enamel of bezel and rear is virtually fully present; bow pivots freely through its central range of motion before reaching a firm stop, bow with some bits of enamel loss and with slivers of wear to brass, crown shows light wear; glass crystal with small edge chip, some bits of glue excess visible at its seat.
